2 Week Puppy Photos and Litter Updates

It’s hard to believe that two weeks have already passed since Ruby welcomed her beautiful litter into the world! These first couple of weeks have been filled with lots of sleeping, nursing, and growing—and they certainly haven’t disappointed.

We are excited to officially introduce the makeup of the litter:

🐾 2 Males

🐾 5 Females

Each puppy is thriving, gaining weight, and becoming stronger every day. They still spend most of their time sleeping and nursing, but it’s always amazing to watch these tiny, and oh so soft, bundles of fluff develop during these early weeks.

This week we’re sharing the very first individual photos of each puppy, along with general litter photos from their first couple weeks. While their eyes are just beginning to open and they’re only starting to explore the world around them, you can already see the incredible promise each one holds.

Over the coming weeks you’ll be able to watch them transform from sleepy newborns into playful, curious Alaskan Malamute puppies as they begin interacting with one another and discovering their surroundings.

Thank you to everyone who has been following Ruby’s journey and cheering on this special litter. We love sharing these milestones with you!

If you’ve been thinking about welcoming a Peak Northern Kennels puppy into your family, now is the perfect time to follow along. We’ll continue posting regular updates, photos, and videos as the puppies grow.

Key Stages of Puppy Development: What to Expect in the Coming Weeks

Our puppies are now 2 weeks old and growing fast! It’s an exciting time to watch them develop and hit new milestones! Here’s a brief overview of the key stages of puppy development and what you can expect in the coming weeks:

1. Neonatal Period (0-2 weeks)

In the first two weeks, puppies are born blind and deaf. They rely entirely on their mother for warmth, nutrition, and care. During this time, they spend most of their days sleeping and nursing.

2. Transitional Period (2-4 weeks)

Around the two-week mark, puppies begin to open their eyes and ears, starting to respond to the world around them. They’ll begin to stand, walk a bit, and even wag their tails! This is also when their baby teeth start to come in. (NOTE: two week photo will be posted soon where you can see some of the first photos with their eyes beginning to open.

3. Socialization Period (4-12 weeks)

This is a critical period for puppies as they start to interact more with their littermates, humans, and other animals. They learn important social skills and begin to explore their environment. It’s also the best time to start gentle training and introduce them to new experiences. It is during this period at 8 weeks where the puppies will go to their new homes!

4. Juvenile Period (12 weeks and beyond)

Puppies continue to grow rapidly and their coordination improves. They become more independent, and their training becomes more structured. This is a great time to focus on obedience training and reinforcing good behaviors.

Watching our puppies grow and develop is truly a joy, and we’re excited to share these special moments with you! Stay tuned for more updates and adorable photos as our puppies continue their journey. 🐾
